When you accept the Terms and Conditions associated with using the website and you supply your registration information, we will send you an e-mail confirmation. The e-mail confirmation contains your Barrick Unlock the Value program identification number. You will need this number to submit a proposal.

  5. In the documents area, read the Veladero Silver Recovery document, and consult the Glossary of Mining Terms provided.
  6. Study the Submission Agreement and the Development Services Agreement in their entirety to understand the program rules, eligibility, rights and obligations regarding confidentiality and intellectual property, as well as the proposal evaluation process.
  7. Follow the proposal guidelines and prepare a proposal, using the Proposal Submission Template.
  8. Before submitting a proposal, all team members should ensure the information supplied at the time of website registration is up to date. Any modifications to a member’s registration information will produce a new Barrick Unlock the Value identification number.
  9. For its beauty, silver has long been prized for use in jewellery and silverware. It has been widely used for centuries as a method of exchange and investment as silver coins and bullion products.
  10. Only the Team’s Principal Contact can submit a proposal. The roles and responsibilities of the Principal Contact are defined in the Submission Agreement. Each member of the team must sign the Submission Agreement, and each signature must be accompanied by a valid Barrick Unlock the Value identification number. The team members identified on this website must be identical to those signing the Submission Agreement.
  11. You must submit your proposal in electronic format in English. In addition, you may submit a copy in another language. With your proposal, you must submit a PDF of the executed Submission Agreement. If you are unable to supply a PDF document, indicate that an executed proposal Submission Agreement will be faxed.
  12. A printable fax cover sheet will be supplied during the submission process. Attach this to your Submission Agreement and send to the number indicated on the fax cover sheet within 12 hours.
  13. Barrick will send an e-mail confirmation of receipt of a complete proposal submission to all team members.
  14. Review Submission Information. Team members can review information supplied at the time of submission, and the Principal Contact can update files or team information prior to the submission deadline.
  15. Once the proposal is evaluated by the expert panel, the Principal Contact will be notified if the proposed technology has been selected to advance to Phase 2 Full Proposal and Definition of Test Program.

Eligibility

Proposals are equally welcome from individuals, teams and organizations from all levels and disciplines of the worldwide scientific, engineering and inventor community. All proposed approaches will be fairly and equitably evaluated by experts throughout the four phases of the program.

The program is also open to Barrick employees with some restrictions. Excluded employees are those involved in research and development activities, the administration of the Unlock the Value program, or in the decision-making processes related to the testing, procuring and implementation of technology for the Veladero mine. Barrick employees are bound by the same terms and conditions as other participants.
